Is Islam Bashing Actually Christian Bashing?
The article I’m responding to: www.malaysia-today.net/islam-bashing-is-actually-christianity-bashing/
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is from Genesis 19. Here’s the link for those of you who want to read what the Bible says about it (see www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+19)
“Genesis tells us that God wanted to test the people of Lot’s community so He sent two angels disguised as very ‘jambu’ men to that community.”
Dear Raja Petra Kamaruddin (“RPK”), let me be the first to call your bluff. Nowhere in Genesis 19 does it state that the angels were disguised as ‘jambu’ men as you claim.
I’d suggest you re-read the passage of scripture or buy yourself a new pair of glasses. Genesis 19:4-5 says:
4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house.
5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have
sex with them.”
So it is unquestionable that the male crowd at that time were homosexuals. It does not imply that the angels disguised as men were also homosexuals
“Lot and his family were spared because they were all righteous people.”
Again I call your bluff. Which verse in Genesis 19 supports your claim? When you quote from the Bible, do quote properly and not jump to your own rash conclusions
In Genesis 19:19, Lot says, “Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life…” Perhaps it is worth considering that Lot’s family benefited from his righteousness?
In the case of Noah, he “was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God” (Genesis 6:9). Then in Genesis 7:1, God says to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”
Could it be that Lots family was spared because of his righteousness?
“After they had escaped, Lot’s two virgin daughters got him drunk and then had sex with him. Then they became
pregnant. But God did not destroy them because they were righteous although they had sex with their own father and got pregnant”
My previous argument applies to this point as well. Just because the Bible does not say God punished them right away does not mean He condones such actions. We cannot discard the fact that they (Lot’s daughters) may face eternal condemnation due to their sick actions
“Only if you have gay sex will God destroy you.”
Bold statement to make. Here again I call your bluff. You claim to have read the Bible but I am unsure as to how you missed out pertinent scriptures related to a similar subject
Genesis 6:11-13 tells us:
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence
12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways
13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth”
Did God send the flood to destroy mankind just because of homosexuality? Nope. God does not condone any form of sin. Looks like you have to be careful in future before using words like “only”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says:
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10 nor thieves nor drunkards nor slanderous nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God
Eternal damnation awaits those who are involved in the aforementioned things. But of course all hope is not lost. 1 Corinthians 6:11 tells us, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”
It is not that God only hates homosexuality. He is against all forms of sin. He is merciful enough to give us a chance to repent and turn to Him before it is too late
